Based on Rovio's popular mobile game, the Angry Birds Activity Park will be closing on April 5 after six years of operations. — NORBAITI PHAHARORADZI/The Star The Angry Bird Activity Park, a theme park in Johor Bahru based on Rovio’s hit puzzle videogame, is shuttering on April 5. In a post on its Facebook page, the company thanked customers for their support over the last six years of operations. Many customers also replied to the post, sharing their experiences and photos of the park or planning a last visit before the parked closed for good. As of press time, its official site has not yet reflected the announcement, instead stating it was closed from Jan 13 due to the movement control order (MCO). The 2,415 square-meter park, located in Komtar Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC) mall, opened back in Oct 31, 2015, equipped with 24 games and rides designed for family entertainment. It was a collaboration between Johor Corporation (JCorp) subsidiary Damansara Assets Sdn Bhd and game developer, Rovio Entertainment Ltd. This follows the closure of the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town on Jan 1 last year, after eight years of operation. The theme park was located in the Puteri Harbour theme park in Iskandar Puteri, formerly known as Nusajaya, close to the Tuas Second Link. It also housed the Thomas Town indoor park, which closed on the same day. The Straits Times reported that Johor was home to at least 10 theme parks, earning it the accolade of the Malaysian state with the most such parks, including Legoland Malaysia and the Angry Birds Activity Park.
