KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda distributor Bermaz Auto Bhd posted improved profits in the second quarter ended Oct 31, but warned that the outlook for the car industry remained challenging due to the resurgence of Covid-19 cases. The company posted a net profit of RM24.8mil compared with RM20.4mil made a year ago. Revenue rose to RM600mil from RM457mil previously, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today. "Although the financial results for this second quarter under review have been encouraging, the Group is nevertheless cautious of the resurgence of the COVID-19 cases and its impact on the overall economy and expects the automotive sector to remain challenging in 2020/2021," Bermaz said. "Hence, any launch of new and/or new facelifts Mazda models will be dependent on the market sentiments and economic conditions then," it added.
